The goal of our internship program is to serve as a pipeline for sourcing talent and to open the door to potential candidates pursuing a career in fabrication. It’s another avenue for our team to recruit future full-time employees while also teaching and exposing students to hands-on experience.

“Our internship program is unique in that we strive to provide students with projects that our current employees are working on. We want them to have the opportunity to see what it’s like working at a sheet metal fabrication company,” said Melissa Palmer, Human Resources. “Creating long-term working relationships and focusing on our employees is part of our core value system at KMI and we hope to offer that same value to our interns.”

A unique aspect of our employment process is that we seek to hire candidates committed to creating a long-term career within our company. Our employees are our greatest business asset and we work to create an environment that reflects that. When you join our team, you become part of the KMI family where positive relationships amongst leadership and their teams is encouraged. Our hope is that this will help to improve employee’s individual skills and encourage professional development. Several of our supervisors and members of our leadership team started their careers in the warehouse and worked their way to management.

Interns bring a new perspective and fresh ideas to KMI. We offer internship opportunities in all departments including; shop floor, engineering, shipping, marketing, and human resources. Because of the variety of positions we are able to offer, we accept students from any collegiate grade level.
