Should I use a standard or custom electrical enclosure?
KMI offers standard, modified, and complete custom electrical enclosures in all shapes, sizes, materials, colors, and Nema ratings.
There are several important things to consider when deciding standard vs custom:
- Size- The most important factor is the size that your enclosure needs to be. If it is a larger or bulkier product, it may need a custom enclosure.
- Material- What components will be installed? Heavier objects including fans and blowers may cause the need for a heavier gauge metal. Stainless steel or aluminum is required for exposure to harsh chemical or corrosive environments as well.
- Modifications- If you need windows, monitors, push bottons, a/c units, or any other holes or knockouts, custom is the way to go.
- Finish- If you need a unique color, or a more durable finish due to the environment that your enclosure will be in, custom is the right choice.
